Q.) What do I need to use the ToothIQ App?
A.) Three things: an iPod touch® (or iPhone®), iTunes® running on a Mac® or PC, and the ToothIQ App.
Q.) How do I get the App?
A.) You can either purchase the App from your iPhone or iPod touch OR you can purchase it on your computer and then sync your device. If you are on a Mac or PC: get the App now! This will open iTunes to the ToothIQ App page. The animations will not play on a Mac or PC. An iPhone or iPod touch is required. You will need to sync your iPod touch or iPhone.
From an iPhone or iPod touch
- Select the "App Store" icon.
- Select the "Search" button at the bottom of the screen.
- Enter ToothIQ in the search box and select "Search".
- Select the ToothIQ application.
- Select the "Buy" button (It will cost you $1.99 US, but comes with one animation. There are over a dozen free animations available.
- Select the "INSTALL" button and the application will download to your device.
From a Mac or PC
Click to get the App. Or:
- Open the iTunes application.
- Select "iTunes Store" from the menu on the left side.
- Search for ToothIQ in the "Search iTunes Store" search box.
- Select the ToothIQ application from within the "Application" area of the page.
- Select the "Buy" button and the application will download to iTunes.
- Connect your iPhone or iPod touch and sync the app to your device.
Q.) How do I download additional animations?
The App comes with the Tooth decay (Dental caries) animation pre-installed. There are currently 13 other FREE animations you can download. They are clearly marked. Navigate down to the detail page for the animation and select "Get Animation". For best results, download on a fast Wi-Fi connection.
Q.) Which App Stores carry the App?
A.) Currently, the ToothIQ App can be purchased in the following countries: United States
Canada, Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom, and Ireland.
Q.) How do I use ToothIQ App with patients?
A.) You can play dental animations for patients while doing something more productive—such as anesthetizing another patient, sterilizing instruments, doing lab work, or adjusting someone's bite. Your hygienists and auxiliaries can also use the animations to help educate patients. Since iPod touch and iPhone devices are portable, you can view the animations anywhere.
Q.) The speakers on my iPod touch aren't very loud. Any suggestions?
A.) A wide range of headphones, speakers, and accessories are available for iPhone and iPod touch through the Apple Store.
Q.) How can I make the most of an iPod touch in my practice?
A.) You can download movies and photographs to your iPod touch. Playing movies for your patients during longer procedures helps pass the time more quickly, and helps you and your patients to relax. Use the photographs to show patients examples of clinical cases you've treated.
Q.) Is the screen large enough for patients to learn?
A.) Yes! The 460x320 screen allows all the oral structures in the animations to be viewed at full scale or larger.
